The Malton Food Lovers Festival was absolutely amazing. The organisers had put together a varied and interesting spread of demonstrations and activities. Plus the fabulous food market packed with the best food and drink the region has to offer.

There were talks, tastings, cookery lessons, demonstrations and new for this year a festival party. The chef line up included Prue Leith, Stephanie Moon, Andres Pern, James Mackenzie (both from Michelin starred restaurants locally), Peter Sidwell and Valentine Warner to name but a few.

Perhaps the star of Saturday was Levi Roots, Dragons’ Dens most famous find. Levi demonstrated his lively kitchen style and created a tropical storm of Caribbean flavours. However his talent was not just limited to the kitchen. On the Saturday evening he and his 12 piece band played at the inaugural festival party. The atmosphere in the market place was magical. A warm evening with everybody outside soaking up the sun with a cool drink and listening to great Reggae music. This must go down as the most successful food festival yet.

Special thanks!

Particular thanks must go to Tom Naylor Leyland and both his family and team at the Fitzwilliam Estate that all worked so tirelessly throughout the weekend.

A big thank you to Gilly Robinson and her team of helpers from Malton Cookery School – those in the Milton Rooms, at the Cookery Theatre in particular for helping us set up and dismantle the demonstration area.

Sam and Kim and all at Well Pleased Events (who did a brilliant job of running everything).

All the chefs involved in the various different activities around the whole of the market. The stall holders and finally a huge thank you to all the people of Malton that volunteered their time and help to make the weekend such a successful event for the town.
